Mission

Our mission is to provide passionate, engaging, and satisfying theatrical dance performance, to create appreciation for and contribute development to the art form, and to become a leading contemporary dance company with a local, national and international audience.

LCTC explores the known elements of dance in significantly original and unexpected ways and comes to different, invented and idiosyncratic conclusions from other dance companies. We are interested in the state of mind, heart, and spirit of "the performer," or "one who performs," and here lies the connection to the source energy of each and every dance we create.

LCTC trains and nurtures young dancers and provides select students an exposure to professional dance experiences.

LCTC offers an educational and comprehensive out-reach program that communicates positivity and the value of dance as artistic expression.

Since its founding in 2002, LCTC has fulfilled this mission by:

  • Performing 20 times in Greater Boston as well as in Connecticut, New York City, Maine, Virginia, Vermont and at The Yard and Jacob's Pillow Dance
  • Performing fifteen different new works
  • Being honored as the '04-'05 recipient of the Massachusetts Cultural Council's Artist Grant for Choreography and the '06 recipient of the LEF Foundation New England Contemporary Work Fund Grant
  • Providing professional development, training, and performance opportunities to high-school-age students
  • Creating apprentice positions with LCTC
